We pick up the guitar because some song or band we hear inspires us. We say to ourselves, I want to do THAT. And you probably can if you can do a couple of things:
- Keep the fire in your belly. That’s sometimes the hardest thing as we work through challenging periods in our development.
- Have good mentors and information available to keep us on track.
Don’t believe the BS some people try to feed you about a special secret that will unlock the guitar for you so you can play great in a hurry.
Sorry – that’s just not reality. Like all skills, playing guitar well requires a lot of time, effort and dedication. Short cuts? There are no short cuts. But there are ways to learn efficiently. And that doesn’t mean quickly – it means working toward your goal in logical way.
