All Gigs Are Important

Approach all gigs like they’re important. I’ve been fortunate to play guitar with some of the best musicians on the planet, but I’ve also done my share of everyday local gigs. I make it a habit to treat them all like they’re important – because they are.

They’re all important because of a couple of reasons:

  1. Someone, either the client or the other musicians you’re playing with are expecting a professional guitar performance from you. Your bandmates are depending on you to be solid. It’s your responsibility to show up and do a good job.
  2. The second reason is just as important – it’s important to make professionalism a habit, your MO, the standard way you go about your business. Focus is a challenge for some people but you have to have it.

Don’t slack – do your part.
